heirloom and memento preservation

2ND GENERATION | AWARD-WINNING | NATIONALLY & INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNISED | AUSTRALIA-WIDE

EST. 1992 | NATIONALLY & INTERNATIONALLY RECOGONISED | AUSTRALIA-WIDE

You know that box of things you could never throw away?

You know the box.

The one tucked into the back of a wardrobe or hidden under the bed. Grandma's hankies. War medals from an uncle. Your children's hospital bracelets. The ticket from your first date. A letter written in someone's handwriting that you'd recognise anywhere.

We put these things away because they're precious. Somewhere along the way, protecting them starts to mean hiding them. But the things that tell our stories deserve to be seen.

For Keeps transforms treasured objects, photographs and family mementos into bespoke conservation-grade displays, so the stories they hold can become part of your home instead of remaining hidden away. We believe in bringing memory, identity and story into your home.

From keepsake to artwork

For pieces that don't fit neatly into a traditional frame, we can explore a bespoke display solution appropriate to the object and how you would like to live with it.

One object can tell an entire story.

Sometimes it isn't the object itself that matters. It's whose hands held it. Where it travelled. What happened while they owned it. Why you were the person who eventually inherited it. A medal is metal until you know who earned it. A handkerchief is fabric until you know it belonged to your grandmother. A movie ticket is paper until you know it was your first date. We design around the story, not simply the object.

Designed for your home, not your storage box. Meaningful doesn't have to mean old-fashioned. Your finished piece should honour the history of what it contains while still feeling at home in the space you live in today.

PRESERVATION, NOT SIMPLY FRAMING

Irreplaceable objects deserve more than ordinary framing.

There is an important difference between simply placing an object in a frame and creating a thoughtfully designed display that considers its long-term preservation.

At For Keeps, we consider the materials, mounting methods, environmental protection and presentation best suited to each individual piece.

Where appropriate, we use archival materials, conservation-led mounting techniques and specialist glazing, including UV-protective glass, to help protect the heirlooms and mementos entrusted to us.

Because preserving something meaningful isn't just about how it looks today. It's about caring for the stories it carries into the future.

DISCOVER OUR APPROACH

HOW meMORABILIA PRESERVATION WORKS

1. Share Your Story

Tell us what you'd like to preserve and why it matters. We'll assess your objects, their condition and the most suitable ways to protect and display them.

2. Design Your Display

Together, we'll choose the layout, colours, framing and finishing details to create a bespoke display that complements your objects, personal style and home.

3. Create Your Artwork

Your objects are carefully prepared, mounted and arranged into a bespoke display, with consideration given to their materials and long-term care.

4. Bring Your Story Home

Your finished keepsake is ready to display, share and eventually pass on, bringing meaningful memories out of storage and into everyday life.

Q. What kinds of mementos can you include in an heirloom display?

A. Photographs, handwritten letters, jewellery, medals, invitations, clothing and other meaningful objects can form part of an heirloom display. Whether you have one treasured item or a collection of keepsakes, contact us so we can discuss their size, condition and suitability.

Q. Can you frame my mementos without flowers?

A. Yes. Your display can be created entirely around your mementos. A handwritten note, a treasured photograph or an object passed down through generations can become the centrepiece of an artwork that tells your story.

Q. Can you combine mementos with preserved flowers?

A. Yes. Flowers and mementos can be brought together in one display, connecting the objects you treasure with the occasion or person they represent.
The most suitable layout will depend on your items and whether your flowers are pressed or preserved three-dimensionally.

Q. Can you include items that reflect our culture or family traditions?

A.We welcome the opportunity to create displays that honour your heritage, traditions and family story.
Please tell us about the significance of your items, including any cultural considerations or preferences for how they should be handled and displayed. These details help guide the design.

Q. Can you work with old or fragile items?

A. Older and delicate items need individual consideration. Before bringing them to the studio, send us photographs and any information you have about their age, materials and condition.
We can then discuss suitable display options and any limitations. Please avoid cleaning or repairing fragile items before speaking with us.

Q. Do I need to know how I want my display to look?

A. No. You do not need to arrive with a finished design in mind.
Start with the items you would like to include and the story behind them. We can help you consider the arrangement, frame and overall style to create a display that feels personal and suits your home.

Q. Will my original items need to be altered?

A. This depends on the item and how it will be displayed. Please let us know from the outset if keeping an item intact or being able to remove it later is important to you.
We will discuss the proposed approach and any alterations required before proceeding.

Q. How do I get started?

A. Contact us with photographs of your mementos, their approximate dimensions and a little about what you would like to create.
If you would also like to include fresh flowers, contact us as soon as possible, as these need prompt attention. Studio visits are by appointment only.
